You live to securely reduce cycle time You enjoy daily decision making and real product delivery You help ensure project success and client satisfaction You enjoy collaborative teams, pairing with team members, and inviting your clients to participate You like to work alongside, and learn from, lean and agile leaders You are a creative problem solver who is comfortable with uncertainty You are a curious and keen learner who thrives on enhancing your (and our) practices and knowledge You see AI as a force multiplier, not a shortcut — and you're already weaving it into how you think, build, and ship As a Senior IT Operations Specialist at Rise8, you will: Create and manage dashboards related to platform and services availability & performance Lead the administration and support of services within a cloud-based Kubernetes platform on AWS GovCloud, including GitLab, and Red Hat Identity Management (IDAM) Oversee onboarding/offboarding workflows, access controls, and service account provisioning across multiple environments Drive automation of operational and service desk tasks using Bash and other scripting languages to enhance support responsiveness and reduce manual overhead Serve as the escalation point for platform support issues and coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex incidents and outages Guide and mentor junior technologists and service desk staff in procedures, best practices, and secure operational support Champion documentation standards and knowledge sharing to support audit readiness and operational continuity Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure services and support workflows align with NIST 800-53 controls and organizational policy Identify opportunities to enhance the developer and platform support experience through workflow optimization, tooling improvements, and automation Contribute to service reliability and user experience through proactive monitoring, reporting, and continuous improvement of support operations Champion AI-augmented ways of working across your engagement(s), leveraging AI tooling to accelerate delivery, reduce cycle time, and drive better outcomes at scale. Qualifications Must have an active US DoD Secret clearance Must have current Sec+ certification A background of 6-10 years in IT operations, service desk, or platform support roles Demonstrated leadership in managing service desk operations and coordinating across platform, compliance, and development teams Strong customer service mindset and commitment to continuous improvement Skilled in ITSM platforms like Jira Service Management, ServiceNow, or Remedy, including SLAs, workflows, and audit reporting Expertise managing GitLab and other platform services within secure cloud environments Strong scripting abilities in Bash and/or other languages for automating support and operational tasks Expertise with administration of tools like MatterMost and Slack Proficiency in Linux administration (preferably Red Hat) and AWS GovCloud service management Expertise in NIST 800-53 control implementation Exceptional documentation, troubleshooting, and communication skills Familiarity with AWS GovCloud, Azure, or GCP operations and service account administration Preferred Qualifications: Experience in DevSecOps environments and developer platform support Ability to shape service desk strategy and influence platform reliability at scale, especially in security and compliance workflows Salary The annual salary range for this role as it is posted is $119,853 - $149,817 regardless of final candidate location within the United States. The final job level and annual salary will be determined based on the education, qualification, knowledge, skills, ability, and experience of the final candidate(s), and calibrated against relevant market data and internal team equity. Benefits Flexible schedule in a 100% distributed workforce Premium Insurance: We cover up to 100% of the employee premium and up to 80% of the combined dependent premium on our base health plan, depending on pay band. We also cover 100% of the premium for employee and dependent Dental and Vision as well as employee premiums for Life and Disability coverage. Retirement: 401k match at 10% gross pay. Paid time off (PTO): 4 weeks combined accrued vacation and sick leave, 11 Federal holidays, your birthday, jury duty, and bereavement. Education & Training: Accrued budget of up to $3,500 per year for classes, travel, events, and materials. Home Office and Merch: We offer $750 per year for home office technology and equipment as well as $100 per year for Rise8 merch from our Swag Store. Wellness Budget: To encourage and support a well-rounded healthy lifestyle, we cover 100% reimbursement on a variety of wellness activities and products, up to $500 per calendar year. Or Rise8 is part of the the Life Time Corporate Partner program. In lieu of your $500 annual wellness benefit, you can instead get a $75 monthly credit towards a Life Time membership ($900 annual benefit). Equipment: We offer a MacBook Pro All of Rise8’s work in this area is with Federal Government customers that require our employees involved with their projects be U.S. citizens. As such, this role requires U.S. citizenship. If hired, you would also be required to go through a background investigation.
