Job Summary: Tower Technicians are responsible for performing installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of wireless telecom equipment at various sites, often internationally. Depending on level, the scope includes increasing responsibility for quality, efficiency, leadership, and mentoring. Key Responsibilities (By Level): Tower Technician I Support wireless site builds and installations under supervision Perform waterproofing, grounding, and cable support tasks Assist with materials handling, housekeeping, and safety checks Follow directions and learn trade skills on-site. Tower Technician II Perform all TT I duties with minimal supervision. Lead basic installations: antennas, radios, jumpers, grounding, RETs. Mentor TT I team members and assist with integration tasks. Collect closeout documentation and assist TT III as needed. Tower Technician III Lead telecom equipment installations with minimal guidance. Train and mentor TT I & II technicians. Troubleshoot and support site integration. Assist or substitute for Crew Leader when necessary. Perform advanced tasks such as sector frame and platform installation. ___________________________________________________________ Note: Looking for local candidates in Los Angeles, San Diego, or Southern California. Small Cell Technician – Tier 1 (Entry-Level) Overview: The Small Cell Tier 1 Technician supports installation and maintenance of small cell equipment at ground level or low elevations. This role is focused on learning, safety, and assisting higher-level technicians with builds. Responsibilities: Assist with installation of radios, antennas, cabling, and related small cell hardware Pull and dress coax/fiber cables neatly and according to spec Perform basic testing (continuity, labeling, site documentation) Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment in safe working order Follow safety guidelines and participate in daily JHAs (Job Hazard Analyses) Small Cell Technician – Tier 2 (Intermediate) Overview: Tier 2 technicians take on more responsibility in installation, troubleshooting, and basic site leadership. They can complete assigned scopes with minimal supervision. Responsibilities: Install, align, and test radios, antennas, and power systems Terminate coax, fiber, and power cables to spec Conduct site audits, redlines, and update construction drawings as required Perform PIM/Sweep/OTDR testing with direction Mentor Tier 1 technicians and enforce site safety Small Cell Technician – Tier 3 (Advanced) Overview: Tier 3 technicians are advanced hands-on leads who can complete complex small cell builds, troubleshoot integration issues, and ensure quality standards are met. Responsibilities: Lead installation and commissioning of small cell networks Interpret RFDS, construction drawings, and carrier specifications Perform advanced PIM/Sweep/OTDR and troubleshoot issues independently Coordinate with carriers and integrators during turn-ups Train and coach junior technicians on technical skill QualificationsRequirements (All Levels): Must be RF Awareness, CPR/First Aid, OSHA 10 certified. Must have full climbing gear, PPE, and necessary tools (based on level). Minimum 1 year commitment if sponsored under work visa program Willing and able to travel for extended periods (minimum 6 weeks at a time) Valid driver’s license with clean driving record. Physical Requirements Able to climb and work at heights on towers, poles, and rooftops (up to 500’) Lift and carry at least 70 lbs Capable of performing essential job functions safely and consistently Able to work in all weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, high winds), long shifts, and night work Must pass regular and ongoing drug screenings Preferred Certifications/Experience: Comtrain Authorized Climber Rigging (TT II+) Fiber, PIM, Sweep testing (TT III) Familiarity with RFDS/CDs and telecom build standards Experience with multiple carriers (T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, etc.) Performance Metrics: Safety & Zero Accidents Quality & Punch-Free Work Efficiency & Timely Task Completion Technical Knowledge & Use of Tools Team Collaboration & Mentorship Reliable Attendance
