The Underwriting Manager leads and motivates a team of Underwriters on our Real Estate Umbrella program, ensuring underwriting integrity, profitability, and an exceptional customer experience. Leveraging data and thoughtful analysis, the role requires advanced expertise to recommend and implement business improvements. The manager fosters teamwork and organizational success while embracing accountability, ownership, and the celebration of achievements. RESPONSIBILITIES<ul><li>Manage, mentor and coach Underwriters in technical and professional skills</li><li>Supervise the underwriting operations while providing guidance to a team of Underwriters</li><li>Monitor and report on portfolio performance and execute on strategic pricing and growth models  </li><li>Administer and ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines, rating rules and insurance regulations</li><li>Work with Program Managers to strengthen and grow designated programs</li><li>Partner with Sales Executives and Program Managers to ensure fluid communication and alignment</li><li>Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers</li><li>Create, coordinate and participate in underwriting training</li><li>Foster an environment conducive to continuous improvement</li><li>Solve for root cause problems and provide a resolution path</li><li>Recommend and implement changes to improve workflow, productivity, growth, profitability and quality</li><li>Monitor, manage and report on Service Level Agreement to key stakeholders</li><li>Participate and ensure quality control process</li><li>Obtain and understand market intel and trends</li><li>Underwrite as needed; risk selection, pricing and coverage assessment based on underwriting guidelines</li><li>Limited travel may be required</li></ul> SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS<ul><li>Bachelor's degree</li><li>7+ years commercial insurance underwriting experience </li><li>3+ years with direct supervision and/or management of people</li><li>Advanced technical underwriting expertise with a high level of insurance knowledge & underwriting practices</li><li>Data analytics to monitor profitability of products, rate achievement, and SLA’s</li><li>High energy, pro-active self-starter with a strong sense of urgency</li><li>Ability to set and meet goals by obtaining buy-in from management, peers and associates</li><li>Interpersonal skills necessary to achieve desired goals and interact effectively</li><li>High level of confidence, integrity, energy and enthusiasm</li><li>Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills</li><li>Effective analytical and problem-solving skills</li><li>Highly detail oriented</li><li>Superior organization skills including the ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously</li><li>Professional insurance designation(s) preferred</li><li>Insurance license per state requirements preferred</li></ul> LOCATION<ul><li style="margin-left:16px;margin-bottom:11px;">This is a remote role based anywhere in the United States.</li></ul> COMPENSATION AND PERKS<ul><li style="margin-left:8px;">$120,000 - $150,000 base salary plus yearly cash bonus.
