As a Security Engineering Intern, you will support the design, implementation, and maintenance of security systems and tooling across our infrastructure. The ideal candidate is currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field and has a foundational understanding of cybersecurity principles. This role offers hands-on experience working alongside senior security engineers, contributing to real-world security projects while developing practical skills in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. \n Primary Duties Assist with the deployment and configuration of security tools, including SIEM, EDR, and vulnerability management platforms and AI detection and monitoring tools to enable AI detection and monitoring Support infrastructure security efforts such as architecture reviews and threat modeling for new and existing services. Help integrate security tooling across cloud environments to improve visibility and protection. Collaborate with the security engineering team to automate security processes using scripting languages such as Python or Bash. Participate in security assessments and contribute to vulnerability management activities. Research emerging cybersecurity technologies and trends to support the team's knowledge base. Document security processes, findings, and tool configurations to support team knowledge sharing. Minimum Qualifications Currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Masters degree program in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related field. Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, VPNs). Foundational knowledge of operating systems (Linux and/or Windows). Familiarity with at least one scripting or programming language (Python, Bash, or PowerShell). Understanding of core security concepts including authentication, encryption, and access control. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and their security features. Hands-on experience with security tools such as Splunk, CrowdStrike, Tenable, or similar platforms through coursework, labs, or personal projects. Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, container security (Kubernetes, Docker), or CI/CD pipeline concepts. Experience participating in CTF (Capture the Flag) competitions or security-focused academic clubs. Understanding of common vulnerability frameworks such as OWASP Top 10 or MITRE ATT&CK. Coursework or certifications such as CompTIA Security+, AWS Cloud Practitioner, or equivalent. Interest in pursuing a career in security engineering, with curiosity about security tooling and automation. Physical Requirements Sitting for prolonged periods of time.
