COMMUNITY & BRAND MANAGER Company: CyberNut Reports to: CEO and VP of Marketing Location: Los Angeles preferred (in-office; finding someone in LA is our ideal scenario). Remote within the US considered. Travel: Frequent travel across the country to customer sites, school districts, and K-12 conferences Type: Full-time ABOUT CYBERNUT CyberNut is a fast-growing K-12 cybersecurity startup protecting more than 1 million students and staff across hundreds of school districts. Schools are one of the most targeted sectors for phishing and ransomware, and most security training was built for corporate boardrooms, not classrooms. We built CyberNut for schools. Our platform trains teachers, staff, and students to spot phishing, scams, and account compromise as they happen, not once a year. Districts get automated, always-on phishing simulations themed to the tools schools actually use, one-click threat reporting right from the inbox, and short, gamified lessons that take minutes instead of hours. Our squirrel mascot, acorn rewards, and school leaderboards have turned security training into something staff and students actually talk about. ABOUT THE ROLE We are looking for a Gen Z or millennial content creator who lives on social media and wants to build a brand people genuinely root for. You have native experience building, publishing, and creating content on TikTok, Instagram, and LinkedIn, and you know what makes people stop scrolling. This is a boots-on-the-ground role at a fast-growing startup. You will travel around the country to meet our districts, show up at conferences, film content on site, and turn customer love into customer engagement. You will be part community builder, part brand ambassador, and the voice and face of CyberNut on social. Why it exists: many of our districts like the brand as much as they use the platform. Leaderboards get posted, swag gets worn at conferences, and IT directors call themselves "a CyberNut school." Nobody on the team is accountable for growing that energy on purpose. This role owns it. You will report directly to our CEO and our VP of Marketing, and work closely with Customer Success. WHAT YOU WILL OWN Your time will split roughly across three areas: brand activation (about 35%), community and engagement (about 35%), and brand, social media, and content (about 30%). The split will flex by quarter. 1. BRAND ACTIVATION IN EVERY DISTRICT Buying CyberNut is not the same as being a CyberNut school. Activation is the work of making the brand visible, felt, and owned inside a district, and it looks different for a 2,000-student rural district than for a 40,000-student suburban one. - Build an activation plan for every new customer during onboarding, alongside their Customer Success Manager: who the champion is, where the brand will show up (staff kickoff, hallways, the IT newsletter, the board meeting), which program launches first, and what the district will be proud of in 90 days. - Track the activation level of every existing account (dormant, launched, visible, owned), review the lowest tier with Customer Success each month, and bring a plan to move each account up. - Create and ship the activation kit: launch decks for staff meetings, mascot and poster assets, leaderboard displays for IT offices and staff lounges, email templates for superintendents and principals, and swag for the first winners. - Run the launch moment. The first leaderboard reveal or the first trophy delivery should be an event, not an email. - Tailor the plan to each district. A single champion IT director needs a different plan than a district with a cabinet-level sponsor. The goal is the same: staff say "we're a CyberNut school" without being prompted. 2. COMMUNITY AND ENGAGEMENT - Run competitive leaderboard programs across customers: district vs. district, school vs. school, department vs. department. For example, a fall "Phish Bowl" where 25 districts compete on report rate for six weeks, with sponsored prizes and a trophy that travels. - Design and ship recurring promotions and events: Cybersecurity Awareness Month kits, end-of-year awards, a "first 90 days" challenge for new customers, and a winter swag drop for top performers. - Build and host customer community calls to learn which gamification loops drive the most excitement and engagement: a customer call where IT directors share what worked, and an online community space. - Partner with Customer Success on low-engagement accounts. When participation is flat, you bring the activation play (a leaderboard launch, a principal challenge, a superintendent shout-out) instead of another reminder email. - Make engagement visible outside the district. A school that climbs the leaderboard sees itself celebrated on CyberNut's channels the same week. 3. BRAND AMBASSADOR, SOCIAL MEDIA, AND CONTENT You own CyberNut's social channels. We want CyberNut showing up everywhere: TikTok, Instagram, and LinkedIn. What Duolingo did with its...
