Finance Manager

Thanx • Remote - United States or Canada

Who Are We? Thanx is a leading loyalty and guest engagement platform for regional and national restaurants. We help brands drive profitable growth by increasing guest frequency, growing digital sales, and reducing reliance on discounts. Most loyalty platforms work for guests who are already loyal. Thanx unifies loyalty, digital ordering, and marketing automation in one platform that turns first-time and casual guests into regulars, treating loyalty as a business outcome, not a program, and engaging across the entire guest base. Thanx has raised more than $30M from elite investors including M33 Growth, Ribbit Capital, and Sequoia Capital. Our success is rooted in a culture that has attracted some of the best talent in the country, and we are proud of strong employee tenure, a track record of internal promotions, and the company-wide shift to working AI-native over the last 18 months. We credit our cultural “core behaviors” with these accomplishments: Think Boldly, Execute Reliably, Focus on What Matters, Say “Thanx” Genuinely, Encourage Diverse Perspectives, and Lead, Virtually. Who Are You? This is not a role for someone who simply manages processes or checks boxes. We're looking for a true operator: someone who takes ownership, gets into the details, solves problems independently, and continuously looks for ways to make things better. We're also building an AI-first finance culture. We're looking for someone who is already comfortable using AI tools in their day-to-day work and is excited to rethink traditional accounting and finance processes through automation, technology, and better systems. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment, enjoys building rather than maintaining, and wants to accelerate their career through meaningful ownership and exposure. Everyone at Thanx has equity and is expected to operate like an owner. That means real intensity, including evenings and weekends when the work calls for it. If that isn't what you're looking for right now, this isn't the right role. We would rather you know that before you apply than after you start. About the Role We're looking for a highly motivated, hands-on Finance Manager to own our core accounting operations and help build a scalable finance function as Thanx continues to grow. You'll be responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of our financial reporting, including month-end close, revenue recognition, reconciliations, and billing operations. You'll work directly with the VP of Finance and collaborate across the organization to ensure our financial foundation is strong and our processes scale efficiently. You'll also own our financial model and forecasting. What makes this opportunity unique is the exposure beyond traditional accounting. As part of a lean, high-impact finance team, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to strategic decisions that shape the company's future, including financial planning, unit economics, M&A, and other high-priority initiatives. Our Use of AI and Your Job Expectations What AI resources Thanx gives you At Thanx we expect every employee to be an AI-native builder, not merely a user of AI chat. As such, we view it as our job to provide the infrastructure you will need to succeed. Some of those resources: - Real token budgets. Every Thanx employee is given both Claude and OpenAI accounts with token allowances that should not meaningfully restrict their usage. While big companies are controlling costs, we're focused on maximizing throughput. We still want you to work smart and spend company money like it's your own, but we don't want you constrained in what you can deliver due to an arbitrary cost threshold. - Keystone. Our internally-built infrastructure that puts all systems, MCPs, and product, platform, and customer data (with PII stripped out) in a single place to get you up and running faster and ensure your time is spent building, not managing AI integrations and tooling, blocked on data access, or worried about violating security policies. - The Grid. The goal is for your AI impact to extend far beyond your own work. The Grid allows Thanxers to share tooling and systems they have built with other Thanxers to incorporate them seamlessly into their workflow or co-create together. - Show-and-tell. Build something or learn something new, we ask Thanxers to share it. Building in public makes getting up the learning curve a shared project, not a solo one. And it keeps the learning curve permanently steep by challenging each other with some friendly competition, even for the experts among us. What we expect from you "With great power comes great responsibility." Uncle Ben While Thanx has been around for over a decade, and this credibility serves us well in the slow-moving restaurant industry, we seek to operate at the speed of an enterprise-grade, AI-native company. Our expectations of Thanxers: - You are building, not asking. You treat AI as a team...
