ABOUT THE CENTER The Center for Biological Diversity, a national 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, believes the welfare of human beings is deeply linked to nature — to the existence of a vast diversity of wild animals, plants and people. Because diversity has intrinsic value, and because its loss impoverishes society, we work to secure a future for all species, great and small, hovering on the brink of extinction. We do so through science, law, activism and creative media, with a focus on protecting the lands, waters and climate that humans, other species and all communities need to survive and thrive. We want those who come after us to inherit a world where the wild is still alive. POSITION SUMMARY The Campus Engagement Intern supports the work of the Population and Sustainability program. The program tackles the upstream causes of the wildlife extinction crisis by addressing our current endless growth economic model. We fight for solutions that advance justice, equity, health, and a compassionate world where both people and wildlife can thrive. The Campus Engagement Intern will work to implement campaigns addressing the upstream drivers of the wildlife extinction crisis on their campus, including creating partnerships between the campus health clinic and the sustainability office, incorporating health and equity issues into the campus climate plan, increasing awareness of and access to reproductive healthcare as a necessary part of preparing for climate disasters, and working to address plastic consumption and waste on campus.
